Anyone at the window gets view over the river. Soon after being seated got the glass of champagne - should have stuck to white champagne, the rose champagne was an amber coloured sparkling dry sherry flavour.
The stand of scones, sandwiches and savoury tarts and pies was delicious. I was travelling from Adelaide and catching up with friends so wasn't aware that time was ghoing to be an issue.
The high tea is between pm. I had barely finished the offerings on the stand when we were advised that there was 30 minutes left. I dashed over to the dessert buffet and realised that there was no way in heaven that I would be able to enjoy a proper tasting so took a tiney spoonful of the few larger offerings curated by a famous Belian patissier.
I also selected from the wide range two slices. No time for icecream, fruitm bao or crepes and proper tasting of the extensive temptations available.
As we were finishing our morsels the staff were already vacuuming around us, large fridges were brought in and all teh sesserts removed and all the empty tables cleared and set up for the dinner service.
For a moment it was bliss and then the bubble burst and there was no time. Would have been nice to be offered a little something to take away perhaps.
IF I ever return I will have to rush to the offerings and pile up my plate and quickly plough my way through and not relax or enjoy what I am eating.
A shame because I was really enjoying everything until being made aware that we had to get out asap. Lesson learned - just because it looks like a conservatory and has lovely offerings - beware the time limit.
If you're expecting a British Afternoon Tea experience then the Conservatory can only disappoint. Busy, noisy and with average levels of service the main pull seems to be the buffet of desserts which is vast and probably makes this value for money though not if you have a dairy allergy or are a vegan.
I bake dairy free desserts and cook to accommodate my own allergy medical, not fashion related and know how simple it is to do these options to a high standard.
The Conservatory unfortunately cannot say the same. I will credit the staff at the door as they were most open to feedback and kindly applied a discount for the poor level of service.
I can't deny it is very popular, as I say, probably value for money if you've no allergies in your party and are with a group rather than on your own.
A very nice restaurant for a big group, good option for having an event and suitable for family with young children. The food selection was quite vary from fresh seafood, japanese sushi, italian pizza, indian curry, and chinese peking duck.

I know we will visit again and again, the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were attentive to all our needs. Extremely good value for money for such high quality food.
